[Edit on 22 Jan 2005: The www.rex6000.org site is no longer shutting down and the announcement referred to below has been replaced. Read the entire thread to find out more. - Phil.]
There is an announcement on the front of www.rex6000.org announcing plans to shut down the site as of April 2005
I'm not sure what the plans are for the content of the site or the domain name, and I've sent an email to Dana to find out. In fact, I also made a couple suggestions about what might be done.
Needless to say, it will be critical to find a way to preserve all the invaluable information currently on the www.rex6000.org site, and I suspect that that is why an announcement is being made now, many months in advance of actually taking down the site.
I'll let folks know if I learn anything further.

Hi - the site will stay up, I just need to find a new home...Henrik has hosted it for years, and I guess is moving on. I've actually lost his email address (had a crash and lost all kinds of old email files), so I can't get in touch with him to thank him and talk about moving the URL...
Any of the oldies here still have his email?
Worst case, I'll register a new URL and put the content back up so it will be available....
Thanks,
Dana

Thanks, guys...
I found Henrik's email address again late last night, and we're talking about the transfer. He had emailed me about it previously, but I guess my spam filter was a little aggressive that day, so I never saw his message...
I'm getting the info to him to transfer the domain, so things should be fine in terms of getting the site moved.
And thanks to you guys for keeping up w/the REX world...

I've updated the main page and News page so that the shut down message is no longer displayed. |

I sent you an email, but as long as you get the domain and content and stuff transfered, i can probably just host it here since I don't see the storage space being that much since it's mainly text. Also text is actually compressed on the web server before being sent, so the bandwidth it would use wouldn't be much, either. I've been kinda neglecting the board a bit (thanks to pkiff to knocking out all the spammers ) but I have plenty of resources to get the site hosted here. |
